Pray For President Trump

It’s never good for a minister of Christ to be political just for the sake of being political. But when politics is empowered to cloud believers’ vision of their role in the world it’s right for a minister not to remain silent of the evils of politics. That said, note that God said “Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint” (Prov. 29:18). The word “revelation”, also translated “vision”, means a “vision, oracle, prophecy (divine communication)” from God to His believers. Where Godly “vision” is absent, restraint from doing the right thing is often cast aside. And it’s by the Holy Spirit that believers have God’s vision for them in this corrupt dying world.

When President Donald Trump was elected in November of 2024 by the majority of Americans to his second term, he won those votes based on a right and better “vision” for America instead of the wrong and ungodly “vision” of the previous Obama/Biden years of great immorality that rejected God’s truths of male and female sexuality and promotion of the evil LGBTQ+ agendas, open borders, lawlessness, defunding police, defending illegal criminals instead of the innocent, destruction and burning of many businesses, and even appointing a Supreme Court Justice who could/would not identify the term “woman”. Lawlessness and injustices were beyond the pale.

The moral majority of Americans saw through the evil “vision” the Obama/Biden team had for America and voted for a correction. We got that correction as President Trump reversed all the ungodly policies of the Obama/Biden era. (See last week’s letter.) Trump’s better “vision” and successes in that vision occurred in the first nine to ten months of his second term. But now it’s as if somebody else began controlling President Trump, because he is not the same man he was before. Now, one year after he began his second term, his “revelation” or “vision” changed for the worse by adding a conquering agenda. The moral majority didn’t vote for that. It seems an evil influence is causing Trump to demand that his will be done regarding many other nations.

It appears President Trump is creating an American war footing by hostile actions and bad intentions toward other nations. I’m not even going to address what he’s already done to the nation of Venezuela, or what he’s threatened to do to other nations who don’t conform to his demands. But I will address his hostile and ungodly intentions to grab the land of Greenland, with the intention of making it part of the United States without Greenlanders voting for the same. As protests explode Greenlanders wearing red caps that say “Make America Go Away” make it clear that “We [they] are not interested in being Americans”. (Source) They’re angry.

Yet, President Trump was determined by what appears to be blackmail by “enacting tariffs on European countries until the strategic island becomes ours”. (Source) (I realize that at Davos’ World Economic Forum this past Wednesday he backed off that, but the point is that it was still initially in his heart, and “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matt. 12:34)) In other words he was willing to make others’ lives so miserable that Greenlanders have no choice but to bow to his demands. That’s not democracy. That’s not what I voted for and I don’t think you did either. Greenland has a population of a mere 55,793 citizens. How could it defend itself against the U.S. with a population of over 348 million people and a military apparatus that can wipe out whole nations? It can’t. And that’s the point. If you know God in Christ you know He looks very unfavorably on a superpower man or nation taking advantage of the weak and unable. In this matter President Trump was willing to exploit others for his ungodly “vision” of gaining control of another nation. And it appears the only reason he backed off was due to the global backlash he received from European and other nations for his desired Greenland land grab.

Someone should teach President Trump, who claims to be a Christian, that “The Bible clearly condemns exploiting others and teaches principles of justice, integrity, compassion and care for the vulnerable. Christians are called to stand against exploitation in all its forms.” (Source) The nation of Greenland is vulnerable in the face of any superpower. And it’s not in America’s best interest to seize it by “whatever means necessary” as the Trump administration claims. (Now, I also realize that at the Davos WEF Trump backed off using military force to acquire Greenland, but it too was initially in his heart.) And the fact remains, for the U.S. to lay claim to Greenland, an island of a quiet and peaceful people, is evil, given that weaker and nearly defenseless nation has done nothing to deserve being taken by the U.S. That’s not the freedom of democracy, but a dictatorial desire to take advantage of another for selfish purposes. There is no defense for that.

The oversight and assistance of Greenland has been provided by Denmark for centuries. And so in response to the threat of President Trump seizing Greenland “by whatever means necessary”, “Denmark ramps up defenses in Greenland as Trump zeros in on control of territory”. (Source) This is unbearably sad. Even Denmark, with a population of a little over 6 million people is tiny and is militarily inconsequential compared to the superpower burgeoning war powers of the U.S. If I could somehow personally warn President Trump to not go down this evil path, I would, but I’m not in any such place of influence. And I don’t believe his “spiritual advisor”, Pastor Paula White, will be a guide to the right, as her theology is hard left and seeks wealth and prosperity.

And before someone tells me that Trump’s desires to seize Greenland is for “national security”, because if we don’t Russia or China will, please don’t. That’s a false claim to distract. If Russia or China want to attack America it will be with nuclear intercontinental missiles. It won’t be due to them getting Greenland before the U.S. “Why does Trump want Greenland and what it could mean for Nato and the EU”? (Source) “US President Donald Trump insists his country must acquire Greenland for national security reasons – and has not ruled out using military force…His demands have been rejected by Greenland’s leaders, and by Nato member Denmark, of which the island is a semi-autonomous territory.” The article concludes: “Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens Frederik Nielsen has repeatedly rejected Trump’s arguments, dismissing the idea of US control as a ‘fantasy’…Thousands of people have taken to the streets in both Greenland and Denmark to protest against Trump’s plans.” The people of Greenland have bothered no one, and the U.S. has absolutely no right to demand Greenland and its people come under U.S. government control!

God said “He who oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he who gives to the rich, will surely come to poverty” (Prov. 22:16); and “He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker,
But he who honors Him has mercy on the needy” (Prov. 14:31). If the U.S. takes Greenland to further enrich itself, America will surely come to poverty. Finally, President Trump’s pride is just awful as he proudly says “I think God is very proud of the job I’ve done.” (Source) Who says that? Who dares measure oneself by God’s pride? I’ve never heard that. It’s bizarre. Think King Nebuchadnezzar before God humbled him. All nations are under God’s rebuke Psa. 2:1–3, so let’s pray that Trump honors God in Christ as he relates to people at home and other nations.
